How to Make Printable Coloring Pages in Microsoft Word

It only takes moments to create a coloring page with any theme you like in Microsoft Word , as there are a wealth of images out there. These instructions will walk you through the method.

Microsoft Word isn’t only for the office anymore. In addition to writing letters and research reports, it’s also possible to use this versatile software in many other ways, including making your own coloring pages. In the following steps, we’ll cover steps to make coloring pages that one could print out, premade, on your personal home printer. The process is quick and easy, and also the variety of options is actually limitless.

Step 1: Open a whole new blank document in Microsoft Word.

Step 2: From the Insert tab about the Word ribbon, click the Clip Art button.

Step 3: The Clip Art panel should certainly be visible about the right side with the application. First, expand the dropdown box under Results ought to be and uncheck everything but Clip Art. Although this step isn’t completely necessary, it is going to speed up your quest time a little.

Step 4: Next, expand the Search in dropdown list and select which locations you need to include in your search. In this example, I am leaving Everything checked so that I can search as broad a range as possible. Note here, you will definately get far more results in case your computer is coupled to the Internet as you will also have use of all from the clip art offered by Office Online.

Step 5: Enter a description of what you want to search for in the Search box. Here, I’m just performing a general search for Christmas, but you can narrow this down if you’re only interested in images of reindeer, Christmas trees, or anything else, for instance.

Step 6: Select an image you want, and click on it. It will appear in the main part of your document. Resize the picture as needed either by dragging the borders of the picture to a fresh location or with the resizing technique explained here.

If the style you’ve chosen is a black and white outline, you’re done and will print the coloring page now. However, if you selected a graphic with color, you will find there’s few more steps to go.

Step 7: With the picture selected, open the Format tab under Picture Tools about the Word ribbon.

Step 8: Click around the down arrow close to Recolor to be expanded that menu, and select the Grayscale option under Color Modes.

At this aspect, in case you are satisfied with the appearance of your coloring page, you’ll be able to stop and print it. However, sometimes the look may still be a little darker and uneven. You can lighten it inside the following step.

Step 9: Expand the Brightness menu, and adjust the brightness in your satisfaction. In this particular example, I chose to raise the brightness by 30%. The amount you choose will depend around the image you’re working with and your individual personal preferences.
Now, the coloring page is fully gone and ready to print. If you want a bit more variety, try adding several images on the same page. For some extra fun, listing the images on cardstock paper so that your hand-colored drawings could be sent out as holiday handmade cards, or use labels so that your kids can color their unique stickers.
