How to Make Printable Coloring Pages in Microsoft Word

It only takes moments to generate a coloring page with any theme that suits you in Microsoft Word , as there are a wealth of images to choose from. These instructions will walk you through the method.

Microsoft Word isn’t only for the office anymore. In addition to writing letters and research reports, it’s also possible to use this versatile software in a lot of other ways, including making your own personal coloring pages. In the following steps, we’ll cover steps to make coloring pages that you can print out, pre-made, on your personal home printer. The process is fast and simple, as well as the variety of options is actually limitless.

Step 1: Open a fresh blank document in Microsoft Word.

Step 2: From the Insert tab on the Word ribbon, click on the Clip Art button.

Step 3: The Clip Art panel should certainly be visible on the right side in the application. First, expand the dropdown box under Results needs to be and uncheck everything but Clip Art. Although this step isn’t completely necessary, it’ll speed up your research time somewhat.

Step 4: Next, expand the Search in dropdown list and select which locations you need to include in your quest. In this example, I am leaving Everything checked so that I can search as broad a range as possible. Note here, you will get far more results in case your computer is coupled to the Internet when you will also have use of all from the clip art provided by Office Online.

Step 5: Enter some of what you wish to search for inside Search box. Here, I’m just performing a general search for Christmas, however you can narrow this down in case you are only considering images of reindeer, Christmas trees, or anything else, as an example.

Step 6: Select an image you want, and click on it. It will appear within the main portion of your document. Resize the image as needed either by dragging the borders of the picture to a new location or using the resizing technique explained here.

If the style you’ve chosen is often a black and white outline, you’re done and can print the coloring page now. However, if you selected a graphic with color, we have a few more steps to go.

Step 7: With the style selected, open the Format tab under Picture Tools for the Word ribbon.

Step 8: Click around the down arrow beside Recolor to expand that menu, and select the Grayscale option under Color Modes.

At now, if you are very pleased with the appearance of your coloring page, it is possible to stop and print it. However, sometimes the style may still be considered a little dark colored. You can lighten it inside the following step.

Step 9: Expand the Brightness menu, and adjust the brightness for a satisfaction. In this particular example, I chose to increase the brightness by 30%. The amount you choose will depend for the image you’re working together with and your individual personal preferences.
Now, the coloring page is completed and ready to print. If you want a little more variety, try adding several images on the same page. For some extra fun, listing the images on cardstock paper to ensure your hand-colored drawings can be sent out as holiday greeting cards, or use labels in order that your kids can color their own stickers.
