How to Make Printable Coloring Pages in Microsoft Word

It only takes moments to make a coloring page with any theme you prefer in Microsoft Word , and there’s a wealth of images out there. These instructions will walk you through the procedure.

Microsoft Word it not just for the office anymore. In addition to writing letters and research reports, you can also use this versatile software in many other ways, including making your individual coloring pages. In the following steps, we’ll cover making coloring pages that one could print out, ready to use, on your own personal home printer. The process is fast and simple, as well as the variety of options is actually limitless.

Step 1: Open a fresh blank document in Microsoft Word.

Step 2: From the Insert tab for the Word ribbon, click on the Clip Art button.

Step 3: The Clip Art panel should easily be visible for the right side from the application. First, expand the dropdown box under Results must be and uncheck everything but Clip Art. Although this step isn’t completely necessary, it’ll speed up your quest time a lttle bit.

Step 4: Next, expand the Search in dropdown list and select which locations you want to include in your pursuit. In this example, I am leaving Everything checked to ensure I can search as broad a variety as possible. Note here, you will get far more results should your computer is coupled to the Internet when you will also have access to all of the clip art available from Office Online.

Step 5: Enter some of what you want to search for inside Search box. Here, I’m just conducting a general search for Christmas, however, you can narrow this down if you are only thinking about images of reindeer, Christmas trees, or some different, for example.

Step 6: Select an image you want, and click on it. It will appear inside the main portion of your document. Resize the style as needed either by dragging the borders with the picture to a fresh location or with the resizing technique explained here.

If the style you’ve chosen is often a black and white outline, you’re done and can print the coloring page now. However, should you selected a graphic with color, we have a few more steps to go.

Step 7: With the picture selected, open the Format tab under Picture Tools on the Word ribbon.

Step 8: Click on the down arrow close to Recolor to expand that menu, and select the Grayscale option under Color Modes.

At this point, if you are very pleased with the appearance of your coloring page, you are able to stop and print it. However, sometimes the picture may still be a little dark colored. You can lighten it within the following step.

Step 9: Expand the Brightness menu, and adjust the brightness to your satisfaction. In this particular example, I chose to raise the brightness by 30%. The amount you choose will depend on the image you’re working together with and your personal personal preferences.
Now, the coloring page is finished and ready to print. If you want a bit more variety, try adding several images to the same page. For some extra fun, use the images on cardstock paper to ensure that your hand-colored drawings might be sent out as holiday homemade cards, or use labels in order that your kids can color their unique stickers.
