How to Make Printable Coloring Pages in Microsoft Word

It only takes moments to generate a coloring page with any theme you like in Microsoft Word , and there is a wealth of images from which to choose. These instructions will walk you through the process.

Microsoft Word isn’t just for the office anymore. In addition to writing letters and research reports, it’s also possible to use this versatile software in several other ways, including making your individual coloring pages. In the following steps, we’ll cover making coloring pages that one could print out, ready to use, on your personal home printer. The process is simple and fast, and the variety of options is nearly limitless.

Step 1: Open a new blank document in Microsoft Word.

Step 2: From the Insert tab about the Word ribbon, click the Clip Art button.

Step 3: The Clip Art panel should now be visible around the right side in the application. First, expand the dropdown box under Results needs to be and uncheck everything but Clip Art. Although this step isn’t completely necessary, it’s going to speed up your research time a lttle bit.

Step 4: Next, expand the Search in dropdown list and select which locations you wish to include in your search. In this example, I am leaving Everything checked in order that I can search as broad a range as possible. Note here, you’re going to get far more results if your computer is coupled to the Internet because you will also have access to all in the clip art which is available from Office Online.

Step 5: Enter an account of what you want to search for inside Search box. Here, I’m just carrying out a general hunt for Christmas, but you can narrow this down in case you are only interested in images of reindeer, Christmas trees, or anything else, as an example.

Step 6: Select an image you want, and click on it. It will appear inside the main part of your document. Resize the image as needed either by dragging the borders of the picture to a fresh location or utilizing the resizing technique explained here.

If the image you’ve chosen can be a black and white outline, you’re done and can print the coloring page now. However, in the event you selected a graphic with color, you will find there’s few more steps to travel.

Step 7: With the image selected, open the Format tab under Picture Tools for the Word ribbon.

Step 8: Click on the down arrow alongside Recolor to expand that menu, and judge the Grayscale option under Color Modes.

At this time, should you are happy with the appearance of your coloring page, you are able to stop and print it. However, sometimes the picture may still be considered a little darker and uneven. You can lighten it inside the following step.

Step 9: Expand the Brightness menu, and adjust the brightness to your satisfaction. In this particular example, I chose to boost the brightness by 30%. The amount you choose will depend around the image you’re utilizing and your own personal personal preferences.
Now, the coloring page is completed and ready to print. If you want a bit more variety, try adding several images on the same page. For some extra fun, print out the images on cardstock paper to ensure that your hand-colored drawings can be sent out as holiday homemade cards, or use labels to ensure your kids can color their own stickers.
