How to Make Printable Coloring Pages in Microsoft Word

It only takes moments to generate a coloring page with any theme you like in Microsoft Word , and there’s a wealth of images to select from. These instructions will walk you through the method.

Microsoft Word isn’t only for the office anymore. In addition to writing letters and research reports, you can even use this versatile software in a lot of other ways, including making your own coloring pages. In the following steps, we’ll cover making coloring pages you could print out, pre-made, on your individual home printer. The process is quick and easy, as well as the variety of options is nearly limitless.

Step 1: Open a new blank document in Microsoft Word.

Step 2: From the Insert tab about the Word ribbon, go through the Clip Art button.

Step 3: The Clip Art panel should easily be visible around the right side of the application. First, expand the dropdown box under Results should be and uncheck everything but Clip Art. Although this step isn’t completely necessary, it’ll speed up your research time a lttle bit.

Step 4: Next, expand the Search in dropdown list and select which locations you need to include in your quest. In this example, I am leaving Everything checked to ensure that I can search as broad a variety as possible. Note here, you’re going to get far more results if the computer is attached to the Internet as you will also have access to all of the clip art offered by Office Online.

Step 5: Enter an explanation of what you would like to search for inside the Search box. Here, I’m just conducting a general look for Christmas, nevertheless, you can narrow this down should you be only thinking about images of reindeer, Christmas trees, or anything else, for instance.

Step 6: Select an image you like, and click on it. It will appear inside main part of your document. Resize the style as needed either by dragging the borders from the picture to a fresh location or with the resizing technique explained here.

If the style you’ve chosen is really a black and white outline, you’re done and will print the coloring page now. However, if you selected a graphic with color, we have a few more steps to look.

Step 7: With the picture selected, open the Format tab under Picture Tools about the Word ribbon.

Step 8: Click around the down arrow next to Recolor to flourish that menu, and select the Grayscale option under Color Modes.

At this point, should you are very pleased with the appearance of your coloring page, you’ll be able to stop and print it. However, sometimes the look may still be considered a little darker and uneven. You can lighten it inside following step.

Step 9: Expand the Brightness menu, and adjust the brightness in your satisfaction. In this particular example, I chose to improve the brightness by 30%. The amount you choose will depend for the image you’re working together with and your own personal preferences.
Now, the coloring page ends and ready to print. If you want a a bit more variety, try adding several images to the same page. For some extra fun, use the images on cardstock paper to ensure your hand-colored drawings might be sent out as holiday homemade cards, or use labels to ensure your kids can color their particular stickers.
