How to Make Printable Coloring Pages in Microsoft Word

It only takes moments to generate a coloring page with any theme you want in Microsoft Word , and there’s a wealth of images to choose from. These instructions will walk you through the procedure.

Microsoft Word is not only for the office anymore. In addition to writing letters and research reports, it’s also possible to use this versatile software in several other ways, including making your own personal coloring pages. In the following steps, we’ll cover how to make coloring pages that you could print out, pre-made, on your individual home printer. The process is simple and fast, as well as the variety of options is nearly limitless.

Step 1: Open a brand new blank document in Microsoft Word.

Step 2: From the Insert tab on the Word ribbon, click the Clip Art button.

Step 3: The Clip Art panel should easily be visible around the right side with the application. First, expand the dropdown box under Results must be and uncheck everything but Clip Art. Although this step isn’t completely necessary, it will speed up your research time a bit.

Step 4: Next, expand the Search in dropdown list and select which locations you wish to include in your research. In this example, I am leaving Everything checked to ensure that I can search as broad an array as possible. Note here, you will get far more results in case your computer is coupled to the Internet because you will also have use of all with the clip art provided by Office Online.

Step 5: Enter some of what you want to search for within the Search box. Here, I’m just doing a general seek out Christmas, however, you can narrow this down if you are only thinking about images of reindeer, Christmas trees, or some different, for that matter.

Step 6: Select an image you prefer, and click on it. It will appear within the main a part of your document. Resize the picture as needed either by dragging the borders in the picture to a fresh location or by using the resizing technique explained here.

If the style you’ve chosen can be a black and white outline, you’re done and can print the coloring page now. However, in case you selected a graphic with color, there exists a few more steps to travel.

Step 7: With the style selected, open the Format tab under Picture Tools on the Word ribbon.

Step 8: Click on the down arrow beside Recolor to be expanded that menu, and select the Grayscale option under Color Modes.

At this point, in the event you are pleased with the appearance of your coloring page, you can stop and print it. However, sometimes the picture may still be considered a little darker and uneven. You can lighten it inside the following step.

Step 9: Expand the Brightness menu, and adjust the brightness in your satisfaction. In this particular example, I chose to improve the brightness by 30%. The amount you choose will depend for the image you’re working with and your personal personal preferences.
Now, the coloring page ends and ready to print. If you want a little more variety, try adding several images to the same page. For some extra fun, print the images on cardstock paper in order that your hand-colored drawings could be sent out as holiday cards, or use labels to ensure that your kids can color their unique stickers.
